Jeff Sykes
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our wonderful and fearless director, Jeff Sykes. Jeff was the Sooner Sensation’s chorus director for the last five years, taking us to competition in 2017, where we won our Audience Favorite Award for our show package, 2018 regional competition, and 2019 regional competition where we won Most Improved with a 40 point increase in score from the previous year.
About Jeff
Jeff is a university graduate and he started his love for music singing with his family.
As you would know it, two brothers and a dad becomes a quartet very easily. After college he sang with the
Oklahoma City Men's barbershop chapter and has been a member for 35 years. He later directed the OK Chorale for 14 years and was nominated Barbershopper of the Year for 3 different years. Jeff has sung in numerous quartets including singing in the Music Man on six occasions . Jeff has been the director of the Sooner Sensations Show Chorus since 2015 and in the first year they won the "Audience Favorite" award for Region 25. He was also elected to be president of VSO the following year.

Marilyn Turner
A member of Sweet Adelines International for over fifty years, Marilyn Turner was a charter member of the Houston Horizon Chorus, as well as serving as Events Coordinator for the Great Coast Region 10, and wore many hats in the chorus and Region. She received her 50-year pin from Sweet Adelines in 2017. Marilyn was a beloved member of the Houston Horizon Chorus for over thirty-eight years. In 2019, Marilyn moved back to her home state of Oklahoma and was an active member of the Sooner Sensations in Moore, serving on the Costume and Makeup team. She was a mentor to many chorus members over the years.
